Nissan has just released a teaser image for its upcoming midsize pickup truck, probably a redesigned version of its Navara global truck, which has been identical to the US market Frontier in recent years. The Frontier, which battles American midsize trucks like the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, has been on the market in its current guise since 2005, and is way overdue for a redesign. However, it is not yet clear whether the teaser image relates to the US-spec Frontier or the global Navara.

Before the Frontier debuts, Nissan is expected to unveil the full-size Titan pickup at next year’s Detroit Auto Show, replacing the current generation –America’s worst-selling pickup. It is expected to offer a large V8 diesel engine from Cummins. At last year’s Detroit show, Nissan unveiled a Frontier Diesel concept, indicating that this is the company’s direction for its future line of trucks.
